A fascinating recreation of a 19th Century boomtown, Historic Gold Hill features an array carefully restored sights from Gold Hill's mining days, such mine shafts, a Chilean ore mill, a jail built in 1848 and an old stone powder house. Visitors can explore the extensive park, complete with walking trails, an amphitheater, Gold Hill Pond and an 19th century log barn. Shopping and dining are also offered in Gold Hill Village, complete with a bakery, wood shop, shoe company and restaurant. This historic site is located in southeastern Rowan County, 10 miles northeast of Mt. Pleasant.
